The seventh annual "Silver Star Santa" program, sponsored by the Goliad County Sheriff's Office, will start accepting donations of new unwrapped toys to distribute to underprivileged children in the county for Christmas 2008 in late November 2008. "We served 334 children on December 22, 2007 and we will continue to do this every year so that no child goes without a toy for Christmas," said Sheriff Robert DeLaGarza.

The sheriff's office sends applications for the program to students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth to take home.  Monetary donations are accepted any time of the year by coming by the Goliad County Sheriff's Office, or by going by American Bank on the courthouse square and requesting that your donation be made to the "Silver Star Santa" account.
